Where is Field House Holiday Lets?
Field House is in Borrowdale Valley, in the Northern fells, 5 miles from Scarfell Pike and 4 miles from Keswick, in the Lake District National Park. As one of our guest said, "Smack bang in the middle of the good stuff!"
How can you get to Field House Self-catering Holiday Lets?
You can drive down the B5289, 4 miles from Keswick, get the 78 bus from Keswick, catch the Keswick Launch and sail across Derwentwater, get a taxi or walk. There are great transport links and the open-top bus runs every 30 minutes in peak season.
How far is the nearest pub?
There are 4 hotels with bars and restaurants within 1 mile of Field House. The Borrowdale Hotel 0.2 miles, The Lodore Hotel 0.6 miles, The Mary Mount 0.8 miles and The Borrowdale Gates Hotel 0.9 miles.
Is Field House suitable for couples?
Yes. All our accommodation is either a double or kingsize bed configuration. The Lodge can be a twin singles configuration, and has a kingsize sofa-bed.
Does Field House Holiday Lets have a Honeymoon Suite?
We have had Honeymooners in every self-catering accommodation, but Field House Cottage - Borrowdale, is the most popular choice for Honeymooners.
What is the view from the hot tub?
The best view from the Field House hot tub is The Maiden on Maiden Moor, but you can also see Grange Fell and Kings How.
Which cottages have a hot tub?
There are not many holiday lets in Cumbria or Keswick that have hot tubs. Field House has a large hot tub with 2 loungers and 3 seats. Field House Cottage has a smaller hot tub with 2 loungers and 1 seat.
Do you do short lets?
We normally only do whole week holidays at Field House and Field House Cottage. During the Winter we may do short breaks, but a minimum stay of 3 nights at Field House Bothy and Field House Lodge.
Can I rent out all the apartments for small groups or a family get-together?
Yes, Field House Cottages in Borrowdale Valley can accommodate 10-12 adults. The Bothy sleeps 2, the Lodge sleeps 2-4, the Cottage Sleeps 2 and Field House sleeps 4. You will need to book quite a way in advance for us to coordinate the varying start dates to your requirements. We do not allow Hen or Stag parties though. Best to contact us to help you plan it.
Do you allow pet dogs or cats?
No. We offer Low Allergen Stays. Due to our allergies to anything with feathers or fur and suffering with asthma we cannot accept any animals, as we do the cleaning.
Are Field House Cottages near any good walks?
Field House is a House in a Field with panoramic mountain views. If you can see it from the drive, you can walk there and back in a few hours. We have self catering holiday lets with vistas of Derwentwater, Skiddaw, Catbells, Maiden Moor, High Spy, Grange Fell, Black Crag, Troutdale Pinnacle, Shepherds Crag and Little Chamonix on our doorstep.
What is there to do near Field House Self-catering Holiday Lets?
Most of our guests are keen walkers, many striving to do The Wainwright's. Other come to Field House to go rock climbing, absailing, wild swimming, do a variety of water sports, enjoy the scenery, do some photography, painting, writing, poetry, watch nature, enjoy the bio-diversity of our temperate rainforest, explore the unique geology, visit Honister Pass, tour Honister Slate Mine with its Via Farrata and zip-wire, open-top bus rides, sail across Derwentwater on the Launch. We have "Dark Skies" status here in the Lake District National Park, we even have guests that bring their telescopes and explore the stars. Some of our guest just come to escape the rat-race, for the fresh mountain air, to rest, relax and restore themselves in a beautiful, tranquil environment that is so good for the soul and enjoy the hot tubs.

Derwentwater is between 100m and 700m away from Field House, depending on how much rain we have had. We are 2m above the flood plain.
